In a small market at the foot of Sycamore Hill, Louis Charles Graeter made ice cream, a rare treat in the days before refrigeration. His wife, Regina, faithfully carried on their confectionary business after his untimely death in 1919, making ice cream and candy in the back room of their McMillan Street shop. It was Regina “Boss” Graeter that made Louis’ French Pot recipes a Cincinnati hit, many featuring their signature chocolate chips. Today the fourth generation of the Graeter family continues to produce premium ice cream (two gallons at a time), as well as candy, pastries and other delectable sweets, to same exacting standards of their great-grandmother.
